Biography

Antonio Sama is a curator and lecturer specializing in the restoration and conservation of historical textiles and Gaudí’s work. He currently serves as a curator at the Fundación Real Fábrica de Tapices and lectures at several schools and universities.

Antonio Sama has held prominent roles in the field of restoration, including head of the Restoration Department at the Fundación de Gremios and director of the Conservation and Restoration of Historical Textiles Section at the Fundación Real Fábrica de Tapices. He has directed the inventory of tapestries at Patrimonio Histórico Español and studied collections of tapestries that are part of Catalonia’s cultural heritage. He is also a member of the team at the Centre d’Art d’Època Moderna at the University of Lleida. In addition to his professional work, Antonio conducts research on Antoni Gaudí and has written several books on the subject since presenting his thesis, “Gaudí y el Modernismo en Comillas,” in 1987.
